PL!NGS is a project led by Substance that aims to build the national dataset of Places to Go, Things to Do (PL!NGS) for young people aged 13-19. PL!NGS are activities that take place in the free time of young people, at youth, sports, education, community or other centres. Agencies that organise PL!NGS in these venues can range through local authorities, community, voluntary sector and private sector organisations. Any PL!NG should provide a safe, secure and positive environment for young people. The PL!NGS project itself provides a bank through which providers of activities can pool and aggregate information. This can then be published and disseminated through a variety of channels, including the PL!NGS website but also additional web channels, mobile phones and other media. Alongside this process of aggregation and syndication, the project also has a second, equally important, strand – that of feedback from relevant stakeholders about the availability, scope, quality and direction of a community’s PL!NGS. We call this PL!NGback.
