According to a recent survey of 11-20 years olds by Q Research for MediaGuardian.co.uk, more than 90% of UK teenagers have used a social networking website.

The research found that half of teenagers use social networking sites because their friends do. One-third have at least 4 profiles on sites such as Facebook, Bebo and MySpace and one-fifth said they “couldn’t live without it”!

Only 5% of the teenagers surveyed dismissed the phenomenon of social networking as a waste of time.
